How Do Connections of Bluetooth & UHF Band Wireless Microphone Works On Your Computer?

In general, you only need to plug in the provided USB receiver on your computer’s USB port in order to set up the Bluetooth or UHF band connection with the wireless mic/transmitter.

Any microphone that transmits audio signals wirelessly is a wireless microphone. So, the Bluetooth microphone technically falls under the category of wireless microphones. Connecting a Bluetooth microphone, of course, is easy. You only need to go to the Control Panel, then click on the Network and Internet, and zero in on the Bluetooth Devices. Afterward, hit on the microphone.

Bluetooth microphones, however, are not the only wireless microphones. In film and broadcasting, when they speak of wireless mics, they usually refer to the high-end wireless lavalier microphones, handheld microphones, and headsets.

There is a similarity between connecting a wired microphone and a wireless microphone to a computer. In both cases, your computer should have a receiver. Your microphone, however, should have a transmitter. In the case of the wired microphone, the transmitter is the wire. Yet, in a wireless microphone, the wireless microphone comes equipped with a transmitter.

Your microphone, of course, produces audio signals in analog forms. These audio signals are then embedded into radio signals. Then, the transmitter transmits these audio signals to the receiver of the computer. The receiver then transforms back these radio signals into audio signals.

Analog to Digital Signals

When the receiver gets the audio signals, it converts these signals back to analog signals.  Yet, the computer still cannot process these analog signals. Hence, receivers are often equipped with analog-to-digital (ADC) converter. The ADC transforms the signals into digital signals.  The computer can then work on on the transmitted digital signals.

Digital signals are in the forms of a sequence of discrete values (1’s and 0’s). This ADC may also come as a separate audio interface or something that is built into the computer or receiver.

Many interfaces come with drivers to communicate well with computers. These drivers can be manually downloaded, though, most of them download automatically.

Step-by-step Demonstration: How To Connect Wireless Mic to PC?

The connection setup is as simple as plug-and-play configuration. Some of them will need some additional manual configurations and settings on your computer.
