Lady Gaga’s vocal ability is often compared with that of Gwen Stefani and Madonna while her style in music is said to be similar to the 1980s classic pop and 1990s Europop music.  Her music’s critical reception, the sense of her fashion, and her persona are all combined in her music form.  On the other hand, her status as a fashion icon, trailblazer and a role model has been made in a cycle of affirmation and denial.

In 2003, she started her performances at the rock music setting in Lower East Side, NY City.  She also enrolled at NY University’s School of Arts.  Later, she signed a contract with Streamline Records which was better known as Interscope Records.  In the initial stage of her stay in this studio, she wrote songs for her co-label artists.  While working as a songwriter, she was able to capture Akon’s attention.

Vocal Strengths

Lady Gaga is a proper well-trained vocalist with extraordinary singing techniques. She has resonant and well-supported belting vocals. Her belts were capable of going up to G5 in previous recordings. Now her belts can go up to F#5 which can be witnessed in the song “Do what u want.” The vocalist is equipped for quick terminating high belts. This can be checked in the song “Marry the Night.” Lady Gaga’s lower notes are exceptionally full and dark, however, she can likewise imitate any talking voices. She can thicken head voice with the support of either operatic weight or airy and light.

Particular, extraordinary vocal expressing, that takes into account her to impart a variety of feelings and emotions. But still, she has the ability to deliver melisma. Usually, she does not use this technique to demonstrate her perfect skills. She has incredible legato lines & also has regardable staccato ones. She has the capacity of holding pitches for broadened periods without faltering. Her voice can rise above through different genres, including pop/dance, jazz, balladry, country, and rock.

Placement and vibrato are among her vital strengths. She has got a comparatively wider vibrato. She controls her vibrato skillfully and executes it incredibly. With the passage of time, she is becoming an expert in positioning her belts. She puts less stress on her E5s, D5’s and Eb5’s.

Vocal Weaknesses

At the beginning of her career, she starts at D5 generating poor and shouty belts.
She used her head voices on a few occasions in any live performance especially above E5 because she can’t project well in that area. After vocal training in the years 2014-2015, her only issue, for the most part, was the mask placement and lacking support above the C5 notes.

In conclusion, Lady Gaga is one of the best-talented singers. She always tries to ensure the development of her voice quality and tries to address her issues. Her attempts have polished her skills with the passage of time. She can simultaneously sing and dance demonstrating her breath support. No doubt it is not a prerequisite to dance while singing but still is a unique asset in her back pocket. Lady Gaga Should try to enhance her blend to polish her skills as a vocalist.
